40x60 air conditioned tent under the oaks made           A thick fog adds to the eerie feeling that centuries

for a cool oasis during Universal Studios' Press            of history linger on.  Who will be standing next to

Junket for The Skeleton Key in July 2005.                   you when you catch that glimpse of something

from the corner of your eye?

Alpha Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Order, from University of Mississippi, enjoyed the beautiful setting

here at St. Joseph Plantation as we hosted their Old South Ball.  Dressed in Antebellum style, beautiful belles

and handsome beaus took us all back in time to pre-civil war elegance.

The "Big House" was decked in Christmas attire and a bon fire was lit to help Papa Noel find his way

along the river road as family and friends gathered to celebrate the season.

Our annual "Mourning Tour" runs throughout the month of October.  All of the rooms, including the bedrooms, were dressed for mourning.  The coffin would have been placed in the center hall during visitation.

The front of the house would have also been dressed in "full deep mourning".  Mirrors were covered and the clocks stopped until the burial. Everyone, including children and slaves, wore black for a year.  Our second floor "Mourning Room", (photo on right) is open for viewing year round.
